The Royal Distributing Cup / Ultimax Snowcross Finals Ends the CSRA Season on a High Note

POST RACE REPORT

Oakwood, ON (March 27, 2024) – The final race of the Canadian Snowcross Racing Association (CSRA) had been moved up a weekend due to poor snow conditions in Kitchener; and once again the weather did not look great heading into the finals for this scheduled weekend. The CSRA crew made the decision with Horseshoe Resort in Barrie, Ontario, to overcome what Mother Nature had planned and went to work armed with snow guns, combined with cold temperatures and determination to make this final weekend a great one. After a lot of hard work, CSRA organizers were able to make one of the best tracks of the season in a few short days, where just days before there had been grass showing on the hill. The KSR team is appreciative to both CSRA and Horseshoe Resort for overcoming these challenges and making it an amazing race weekend, as always expected at this venue.
With fresh white snow and blue-sky days, this was a great weekend to be out on sleds and racing in front of the fans with a track that consisted of a long sweeping staring line, an uphill rhythm section, and downhill doubles and triples. It was a crowd pleaser and race delight for everyone who attended.

Zoe #502 Recap:
The season finale was bittersweet for Zoe, who had some major challenges staying on her sled and the track this weekend. Over the course of two days, she fell off twice and went off the track three times while throwing in a superman to cover off all bases.
On Saturday, in the Pro Am women’s class, she fell in the first moto and placed fifth, and then went off the track in the second moto where she had to come to a complete stop and let everyone by. After that, she had to work hard to get up to a podium spot. After pulling out the triple, she was able to get the third-place finish for Saturday. On Sunday in Pro Am woman, she got tangled with another racer once again in the first corner and started at the back of the pack again. In just the three short laps, she was able to secure third place in that moto. In Moto 2 on Sunday she stayed on the track and on her Ski-Doo for the first corner; however she was still at the back and had to make her way up. The track was all lipped up making her more comfortable to use the speed to her advantage as she went down the doubles. This contributed to her once again getting a podium finish for the last race of the season.
Throughout the weekend racing in the Junior class, Zoe had some difficulty with her starts and was continuously at the back of the pack. Her riding in Junior wasn’t any smoother than in the Pro Am women’s class. She fell once, went off the track and pulled a superman.
Overall, this season may have been shorter than hoped but Zoe is proud of her accomplishments in her first season of racing in these classes. She had a lot of fun and appreciated the opportunity to race. She is looking forward to the year end awards banquet!

Troy #500 Recap:
Troy was bitten by the race bug again! After so many years of working on the sleds and not riding, he had a great time this season and this weekend getting back on a snowmobile to see if he could still do it. The chirping in the trailer from his daughters had to be the highlight of the season for him.
The weekend got off to a slow start. After seeing some creeping on the starting line and assuming a racer was going to be moved to the back row for the start, the light turned green and so Troy thought it would be a good idea to let them all go before hitting the throttle (insert chirping from his daughters here). The second race of the day would be at night and under the lights, where Troy had the most fun of the year being back on the track. The track was lipped up and a blast to race.
On Sunday, Troy started off feeling good on the sled and grabbed the holeshot but he made a few bad line choices. Other racers capitalized on the mistake, and he found himself fighting for 3rd place. The second moto, he was 2nd to the corner and looking to grab the holeshot award put up for the finals on Sunday by Bailey Motorsports, but he came up a little short and quickly found vision issues with no visor on his helmet due to a previous on-track incident. He was able to finish the race and conclude it was a great way to end the CSRA season.

The last season Troy raced was in 2003, and at that time the final race of the year was also at Horseshoe Resort. His last race in 2003 was in the Pro Open class where he suffered a mechanical issue and was not able to finish the race. It had always bothered him how he ‘finished’ his racing career then. Looking back, he realizes he just took a 21-year break.

2022 Season Final Rounds

KSR Secures Three Championships at Season Finale

Oakwood, ON (April 5, 2022) – Talent wins races but determination, resilience and hard work win championships.  This past weekend the team travelled to Horseshoe Resort in Barrie, Ontario with the usual nerves associated with the final run in the points race for championships. The weekend saw the team experience many exciting highs but also a very devastating low when Brooklyn (#500) had an accident in her first and subsequently only Moto of Pro/Am Women.

Brooklyn #500

Brooklyn entered the weekend feeling strong and confident after practice on Friday.  She was only six points behind second place in the championship points and set her goal to close that gap.  Coming out strong she had a great race until the final lap on the large downhill section where she lost control and went over the front of her sled.  Unable to get up, the quick actions of CSRA flaggers kept her safe while medics arrived to assess her.  She was subsequently sent to local hospital and after two long days of many tests and diagnostics it was discovered that the impact of presumably the handle bar to her right side of abdomen caused some bleeding into her right abdomen.  She was unable to finish out the season as she so desperately aspired to and ends with a 4th place overall in the Pro/Am Women category.  There is much rest ahead for the young rider and some follow-up tests in the weeks to come.  KSR cannot thank everyone enough for all their texts, messages and calls sending healing vibes and support to Brooklyn.

Zoe #502

Zoe continued her winning streak by sweeping the Transition Girls class all weekend long and going undefeated the entire season for the title of 2022 Transition Girls Champion.  Transition 2 saw her mainly in the top 5 for motos and mid pack in the finals.  Zoe was especially happy with her 9th place finish on Sunday from the back row which was a result of “superman off the bars” in her second moto.  In describing the season Zoe said, “I feel like it flew by, but I enjoyed every minute of it”. She describes the last race weekend of the 2022 season as a great one, and is happy that the Transition girls class was running once again.

Dakota #501

Still in shock that the 2022 snowcross season is already over, Dakota couldn’t be more pleased with her results. Going into Saturday, Dakota was quite anxious but went out there and did her best going 2:1 in Junior 14-17 which put her first overall for the day. She finished off the day Saturday taking the win in both motos in Pro/Am women, a result she would repeat on Sunday securing a MyLaps clean sweep of green (demonstrating an overall win for each and every event). Dakota describes her race day Sunday  as, “an incredible day as I had a clean sweep winning all my races. I also, officially defended my overall championship in Junior 14-17 winning it again this year, and am now the new champion title holder in Pro Women”.  With extreme gratitude, Dakota was happy to take to the podium in the pro show on Sunday to thank the many sponsors supporting the KSR team.

KSR Reflects on an Amazing 2020 Snowcross Season

[POST SEASON RECAP]

KSR Reflects on an Amazing 2020 Snowcross Season

Oakwood, ON (March 19, 2020) – Although cut short, the 2020 race season was definitely one to remember. While there are challenging times ahead for many, KSR is taking this time to reflect on the positive season that was had, filled with action packed racing, triumphs, and great takeaways for next season.

Brooklyn #500

Apart from the CSRA races, Brooklyn travelled to Duluth, Minnesota, for the Isoc Amsoil Championship Snocross season opener. Unfortunately, she was forced to cut the race day short after one heat race due to poor visibility. Brooklyn also travelled to Shawinigan, Quebec for her first SCMX race, and took home a well fought win in the Dame’s class. These events were very fun and provided an on track learning experience, as she raced against some of the top women racers. Within the Canadian Snowcross Racing Association (CSRA) series, this season was Brooklyn’s first time racing Pro Women as her main class. She was able to successfully showcase her skills, taking the win in every heat and final race (apart from Valcourt). She also raced Sport and Sport Lite at select events, with a podium finish at Shawinigan and a 2nd place heat finish in Barrie. These are big accomplishments for Brooklyn, as she was not only one of the only female racers in the class, but she was also years younger than most of her competitors. Her Ski-Doo 600RS was dialed in after frequent trips to the The Compound – Muskoka, leading to such a successful season.

Some highlights from this year were opening the season up in front of her hometown crowd in Lindsay, Ontario, and traveling to the capital of Canada for a new race location and fresh track. Brooklyn would like to extend her thanks to Motul for giving her the best oil in the industry, keeping her engine working at top performance. Out of all 7 snowcross events that she raced at this season, her top experience would have to be in Valcourt for the Grand Prix Ski-Doo de Valcourt. Ski-Doo always puts on a good show, and she was able to be challenged by some fellow women racers. The track was a blast to race on, and she was able to pull off a third place finish. Overall, Brooklyn was able to achieve 9 race wins this season. This success would not have been possible without the support of BAILEY MOTORSPORTS and the entire Karkoulas Sisters Racing team and family.

Dakota #501

Dakota had a great 2020 race season as she remained undefeated in the Junior Girls class, and finished 2nd overall in the Junior 14-17 class. Her favourite race this year would have to be in Timmins, Ontario. On the last day, Dakota fell off her sled right at the start but managed to get back on and win the race. It was her favourite race because she was way behind but got back on and earned herself the win showing the hard work, perseverance and sheer skill will pay off at the end. Overall,

Dakota’s top track this season was in Valcourt, Quebec, due to the perfect conditions and a big double in the middle of the track. Despite the season ending, Dakota remains optimistic and excited for next season! She would like to extend her thanks to: BAILEY MOTORSPORTSCanadian Snowcross Racing Association (CSRA)The Compound – MuskokaSki-DooMotulHMK USASTUD BOY TractionDaycoRox Speed FX, Inc.C&A Pro SkisOff Road VixensScott Sports Canada, and Backwoods Promotions Inc.. She would also like to give a huge thanks to all KSR sponsors that helped the team throughout the year!

Zoe #502

Zoe found that the 2020 season was amazing but went by too quickly. One weekend the team was in Barrie, and then right after they traveled to Timmins to race! The Transition 8-10 class was a challenging one for Zoe with a lot of the fast racers, but she still managed to get a 5th place overall. The Transition Girls class was super fun with Zoe making the podium every weekend, giving her a 2nd place overall. Zoe’s favourite race was also in her home town of Lindsay, Ontario, because her friends and family were there to motivate her throughout the weekend. Zoe would like to thank Ski-Doo for making super fast sleds, HMK USA for keeping her warm all season, and Off Road Vixens for keeping her comfortable while off the track. Also, Zoe would like to thank The The Compound – Muskoka for a great practice track, where she practiced as much as she could in preparation for the season. Zoe would also like to extend a big thank you to: MotulStud Boy TractionDaycoRox Speed FX, Inc.C&A Pro SkisScott Sports Canada, and Backwoods Promotions Inc.because they do a lot for her and the team. Also, Zoe wanted to extend the biggest thank you to BAILEY MOTORSPORTS because they do so much for her, from helping with her sled to doing TikToks.

Finally, last but not least, Brooklyn, Dakota and Zoe would like to extend a big thank you to their parents, Rebecca and Troy, who continually support, encourage, and mentor them each season. Through the high fives, hugs, smiles and sometimes tears, their parents are there through it all, and this season (and the many before it) wouldn’t be possible without the family support. Thanks mom & dad for being our rock, being there through it all. We love you!
